Kathryn Sullivan Obituary

Kathryn Joy Sullivan of Randolph, formerly of Hingham, passed away on March 5, 2024, at the age of 63. Daughter of the late Jay and Josephine (Ventresca) Sullivan.

In loving memory of Katy, a soul who radiated joy and kindness from an early age. Her innate happiness and positivity defined her character, making her a beacon of light to all who knew her. From her tender years, Katy's love for learning and art flourished effortlessly, a testament to her curious spirit and creative soul.

Katy was not just a sweet child; she was a force of nature, fiercely independent and remarkably empathetic. Her emotional intelligence and genuine compassion extended not only to her loved ones but also to strangers and every creature she encountered. Always ready with a radiant smile, Katy's inner beauty shone just as brightly as her outward grace, drawing people to her with an irresistible charm.

Yet, amidst her infectious joy, Katy faced her battles with mental illness, a struggle that she met with unwavering courage. Supported by the love of her family, she navigated life's challenges with determination, finding solace and camaraderie among those who shared similar journeys. While some may perceive her life as difficult, Katy embraced every moment of it on her own terms. Katy was a graduate of Hingham High School class of 1978.

Katy is survived by her sister Sheila Sullivan (Hull, MA) and brother Michael Sullivan (Hingham, MA); nephews Colin Sullivan (Boston, MA) and Liam Sullivan (San Francisco, CA) and niece Riane Sullivan (New York, NY); aunt Annette McCarthy (Kingston, MA); uncle and wife Barry and Diana Sullivan (Danbury, NH); and many nieces and nephews and their spouses and children, whom she loved very much.

Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel 21 Pond Street Hingham, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vinfen (Cambridge, MA) in Katy’s memory.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Good Samaritan Medical Center for their compassionate care and support during Katy’s final days.

To our beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin, aunt, and friend, Katy leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will forever reside in our hearts, reminding us to cherish each day and embrace life with the same passion that she did. Farewell, dear Katy, may you find eternal peace, you will be missed.
