Mary F (Fenton) Buttkus

Mary F. (Fenton) Buttkus, of East Dennis, formerly of Hingham, passed away Monday October 30, 2017 with her loving family at her side at the age of 93.

Loving wife of the late Paul Joseph Buttkus. Beloved mother of Paula McNamara of Bridgewater, Peter Buttkus and his wife Laurie of Hingham. Cherished grandmother of Margaret and Kari Buttkus, Erin, William, and Patrick McNamara. Great grandmother to Taylee, Jagger, and Tinlee. Daughter of the late Nora (Gallagher) Fenton and Joseph Patrick Fenton. Sister of the late Joseph Patrick Fenton.

Mary was born in Hingham on April 10, 1924 and where she graduated from Hingham High School, class of 1942. Mary had a zest for life. Lover of travel, adventure, the arts and good conversation. A true Patriot who lived through American history that we have only read about. Fiercely devoted to family and her Irish heritage. Her home was filled with love, laughter, good food, and hard work. She will always be remembered for her kindness, thoughtfulness and love of a good party. We will miss her greatly, remember her with love, and truly mourn her passing.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Saint Paul’s Church, 147 North Street, Hingham at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be held at Saint Paul’s Cemetery in Hingham.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mary may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, State House - Room 546, Boston, MA 02133.
