William Victor Ruth

Mr. William V. Ruth, 83, of Hingham passed away peacefully after a long illness on October 10, 2023 at the Rose Court of Linden Ponds hospice facility.  Born in Belfast, North Ireland, Bill travelled the world in his early years to work at shipyards.  He later moved to America and met his adoring wife Vivian (Salachi) Ruth.  He graciously acted as a father for her children Jamie, David, and Gary.  After many years of employment as a welder/fabricator at Russelectric, Bill retired to Linden Ponds where he enjoyed playing bridge which was his favorite hobby.  Bill's kindness and sense of humor will be sorely missed by his extended family and many friends.

Bill is predeceased by wife Vivian Ruth and brother Alan Ruth. Survived by children - Jamie Tribandis and spouse Martin of Worcester MA, David Smith and spouse Lisa of Danvers MA, Gary Smith and partner Kelly Tate of Weymouth MA, and 3 grandchildren Jordan, Joshua and Nicholas Smith.

Services are private. Celebrate Bill’s life by donating in his name to Dana Farber Cancer Institute or Massachusetts Humane Society.
