Timothy Reardon Jr Obituary

Timothy Edward Reardon (“Ed”) Jr., 89, of Hingham, passed away on March 25th after a prolonged battle with Dementia.  He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marge Reardon (Nickerson), his devoted and loving daughters, Cynthia and her husband Dwayne Doherty of Braintree, MA, and Susan and her husband Jeff Hennessey of Hingham, MA.  He also leaves behind two granddaughters, Marissa and Lauryn Hennessey who only know him as “Grampy” and “Papa” respectively.  Ed will also be sorely missed by his sister and brother-in-law, Maribel (Nickerson) and Walter Williamson, their two sons, Jeffrey and Jonathon Williamson and their children.

Ed was born on November 16, 1934, in Quincy, MA to Timothy E. and Louise Reardon, the youngest of four and the last surviving sibling of the Reardon family.  He was a graduate of Quincy High School and attended Boston College.  He served as a Specialist Third Class in the United States Army starting in March of 1955 before being honorably discharged in March of 1957.  He married the love of his life, Marge Nickerson, on April 24th, 1960.  They soon welcomed two loving, wonderful daughters.  He moved his family to Hingham (The Isle) in 1971 where they made life-long friendships with some very special neighbors.  A wonderful place to raise a family and plant the seeds for a life filled with happiness and love.  He loved his home and especially the pool oasis that was created in the back yard.  A little bit of Jimmy Buffett music on a warm sunny day was the perfect afternoon!

Ed was a successful businessman, taking over the family call center from his father in the late 50’s. QTAS, Inc., better known as Quincy Telemessaging, grew successfully under his and his wife Marge’s care until his retirement in 2020.  His daughters followed into his footsteps joining the business after college and working side by side with him for over 35 years.  His employees respected him tremendously as he always rolled up his sleeves doing whatever was needed to run a successful organization.

Ed’s family and friends were everything to him. His home was the gathering place for many over the years and the annual July 4th pool party was legendary. The memories of those events are still reminisced about by all those who attended.  He was an avid traveler and thoroughly enjoyed vacationing with family and friends alike.  He often loved traveling to warmer destinations to escape the cold New England winters.  In his younger years Ed loved to ski with the family and continued the family tradition in Stowe, VT when his daughters went to college at the University of Vermont.  Ed was a proud, patriotic American who flew the American flag over his yard year-round.  A devoted Boston sports fan, you could always find Ed enjoying the Bruins, Celtics, Patriots or Red Sox games.

His generosity was beyond compare. He never had an unkind word about anybody . . . a truly devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Southwood Nursing Home for all their efforts to make Ed’s last years as comfortable as possible.
