Theresa (Castellano) Daniel passed away peacefully on February 21, 2023, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth, she was 86.
Born in Flushing, NY and raised in Corona, Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Ferraro) Castellano and Peter Castellano. Theresa attended and graduated in 1953 from Flushing High School. She later went on to begin her Business Administration studies in Manhattan at New York University (NYU). While attending NYU, Theresa worked within the Public Relations Department as she created and fielded the countless press releases about every facet of the University to the nearly eight daily newspapers that New York City had at the time. In addition, she worked the more national news scene for the university through the news wires. Theresa lived and enjoyed the countless attractions of the city at the time including seeing the Beat Generation of writers/poets unfold and come to life at the time she lived, studied, and worked in the city. She continued her Public Relations career until she met the love of her life, the late Albert J. Daniel in Astoria, Queens NY after he completed his Air Force Military service in the Korean Conflict. They were married for 54 years.
They began their life together in 1959 in Flushing, Queens, NY where they continued to have careers in Public Relations and Aeronautics. They remained in Queens NY to be close to all their families, and then to eventually raise a family of their own.
Known for her “gift of gab”, she loved to connect with people and enjoy conversation and memories. She loved being with her friends and family and remained extremely active in community and school endeavors throughout the years. Theresa was a diehard baseball fan, and loved attending NY Mets games while living in Flushing, Queens NY. She enjoyed her season tickets to Shea Stadium (later CitiField) attending nearly every home game with her husband. They were even at the 1986 game when the NY Mets won the World Series. That was a game that she loved to reminisce over.
Another passion was the local political arena where she held many dynamic positions on local councils as well as work on local political campaigns within the borough of Queens, NY. Her ability to speak freely with people of all backgrounds made her a perfect addition to all of the political campaigns that she worked within. Theresa also volunteered her time within the Breast Cancer Awareness/Road to Recovery Program. As a 2x breast cancer survivor herself, she worked within the local hospitals through this program to visit women battling breast cancer, and to offer her own first-hand emotional experience of strength and survival.
Aside from her many interests, nothing made Theresa happier than spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Albert. Theresa is survived by her daughter Alexandra Daniel of Hingham, two granddaughters, Teresa Pikoulas and Katherine Pikoulas of Hingham, as well as her brother, Mario Castellano of Nesconset, NY.
Visiting hours will be held from 5pm-7pm on Monday, February 27, at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond Street, Hingham. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, February 28 at St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 119 Common Street, Braintree, MA. Theresa will be laid to rest at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree, alongside her husband, Albert, immediately following the funeral service.
