Obituary

Susan (Sue) Delgado passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 20, 2023, after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her husband and children. Sue was active enjoying all aspects of life and nature, and spending time with family and friends.

She grew up in Arlington and her family took winter vacations in Florida. When Sue was a toddler, they would spend a couple weeks at a cottage in Ogunquit. Later they rented a summer house in Scituate and her dad commuted to Cambridge. The family later moved from Arlington to a beachside home in Scituate.

She attended Beaver Country Day School in Chestnut Hill and Framingham State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education.

Sue was a Second Grade Teacher at Cohasset Elementary School and later taught at Happy Child Preschool in Newton.

Sue’s family were members of the Hatherly Country Club in Scituate and Sue spent much of her time at the club. She and her girlfriend would play a round of golf then hang out at the snack bar. Sue's mom signed her up for golf lessons, but after evaluating Sue, the instructor told her mom that Sue had a natural swing and to not change anything. At 16 years old Sue went on to win a big golf tournament.

She enjoyed traveling in the US, the Caribbean and Europe. She also enjoyed painting and outdoor activities including bicycling, canoeing, swimming, skiing, walking, hiking and especially going to the beach. Newport is a special place Bob and Sue loved exploring together and spending time with family and friends.

Sue was religious and always kind, caring and loving to everyone she met. She had a passion for music and dancing. When it was the current trend, Bob and Sue joined the swing dance circuit in and around Boston.

Sue was the daughter of the late Raymond McLay (Mac) and Gwendolyn (Gwen) McLay of Scituate. Her siblings are the late Barbara Krauss, Janet Bradley and Paul McLay.

Sue is survived by her beloved husband Robert (Bob) Delgado, daughter Lisa Emanuello, son Brian Emanuello, their father Tony Emanuello, and their families.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel.
