Sarah Jane (Spoonhour) Thorell, of Hingham, age 75, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021. She is the wife of David L. Thorell of Hingham.
Sarah “Jane”, was a 1967 graduate of Ohio State where she received her BS in Education and a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. After 3 years of teaching in Columbus, Ohio, Jane re-located to Norwell, MA. She taught 2nd grade for 6 years at Cole School, before she stopped teaching to raise her own children.
Known as “Mimi”, she cherished spending time with her 4 grandchildren. Holidays and birthday parties were among her favorite events. She would love any excuse to buy a cake or cupcakes and have her family over to celebrate even the smallest occasion. Jane greatly enjoyed reminiscing with old friends both near and far, collecting photos, and of course never missed a Red Sox or Patriots game, like a typical Boston sports fan.
Survived by her children, Jennifer E. (Thorell) Monteiro, wife of Michael E. Monteiro, of Hingham, Jason D. Thorell of Hingham, and Mark D. Thorell, husband of Abby (Burgert) Thorell of Hingham. Also grandchildren: Madeline E. Monteiro, Tenley M.E. Thorell, Jack E. Monteiro, and Jaxson M. Thorell.
Due to the current Covid-19 concerns and occupancy restrictions, there will be no funeral services.
The family will be having a celebration of Jane’s life when times allow.
