Ruth C (Gleckner) Helt

Ruth C. Helt, age 95, of Hingham, MA passed away on November 26, 2023.  Ruth was born at Rahway Hospital in Rahway, New Jersey on August 28, 1928, to the late Adam Francis and Frieda (Froelich) Gleckner.  In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, William, her brother, Robert, and her grandson, Bradley.  After graduating from Curtis High School in Staten Island, NY in 1946, Ruth attended the Katherine Gibbs School in New York.  For most of her career, she worked at The Morris Plains Borough School (NJ) and later at Scripps College in Claremont, CA.  Ruth and Bill were married at Christ Episcopal Church in Staten Island on April 23, 1949.  They moved to Dover, NJ in 1953, then to Morris Plains in 1959 and Claremont in 1983.  They retired to Old Saybrook, CT in 1994, where Ruth lived until moving to Hingham in 2017.  Ruth is survived by her sons Peter of Westport, CT and Robert and his wife Nancy (Marcovitz) of Hingham, MA and her grandchildren Alex, Jeffrey and Sara.
