Ronald Paul Willner passed away peacefully on Monday May 29, 2023, after a long battle with Dementia at the age of 83. He was the son of Carl JT Willner and Gertrude (Erickson) Willner and is survived by his wife of 61 years Janet (Russell) and sons Eric, (Kristin), Karl (Jennifer), Jon and Kurt (Lori). He was the beloved Buppy to his grandchildren Meghan, Niklas, Jake, Colin, Madelaine, and Aidan. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Alexander and his brother Carl as well as several nieces and nephews.
Ron was raised in Quincy and after graduating from North Quincy High School he served in the Navy before returning home to marry his high school sweetheart, raise a family and run the family business for 42 years. Ron’s early passions for boating, fishing and hockey were soon replaced with his greatest passion, his family. Ron helped with youth hockey and along with another hockey dad started Hingham Youth Soccer in 1976. Ron was also not averse to teaching his boys a lesson or two on the tennis courts. Once his children had grown Ron’s focus changed to his six grandchildren. He started with helping with day care and then attending as many of their events from basketball, hockey, lacrosse, and soccer games, to plays, concerts and figure skating shows as possible.
All services will be private.
In lieu of flowers any contributions in his name to the American Diabetes Association (https://www.jdrf.org) or Alzheimer’s Foundation, www.alzfdn.org, would be greatly appreciated.
