Robert J Mann

Robert J. Mann, age 84 of Hingham, MA died peacefully on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born in Albany, NY on April 30, 1940, to the late Clarence and Rose Mann and leaves behind a brother David and wife Carol Mann of Albany, NY. Bob was the beloved partner of Alice Shaughnessy (Amonte) for over 46 years and was a devoted father to Michael Mann of Albany, NY, Mark and wife Tina Mann of Rensselaer, NY and Melissa Wiese of Attleboro. His extended family includes Joseph and Liz Shaughnessy of Cohasset, Paul and Sharon laria of Hingham, and Kevin and Karen Johnson of Reading. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Robert adored his thirteen grandchildren including Taylor, Zachary, Olivia, Lilliana, Ethan, Avery, Madison, Wyatt, Nate, Brayden, Luke, Grace and Shane. His family was his greatest source of happiness and inspiration.

Bob owned and operated Mann Landscape in the Town of Hingham for over 40 years. Beyond his professional endeavors, Bob had a zest for life and a love of fishing. Bob had the great privilege of teaching all his grandkids how to fish, from the time they were able to hold a fishing rod. Bob only had one rule when it came to fishing with his grandkids  -  "if you catch it, you hold it for a picture!" His favorite place to fish for bass was at School House Pond in Chatham, MA. Bob loved to spend summers on the cape in Chatham and was a frequent visitor to the beach, baseball games, flea markets, and concerts, with his favorite event being cookouts on the back deck of the cape house with all his family.

Bob never missed an opportunity to attend an activity of his grandkids which included hockey, figure skating, karate, volleyball, lacrosse, golf, band concerts and dance recitals. The event was always more special with "Papa Bob" in attendance. While at home, Bob also enjoyed creating a business on Ebay, collecting and trading sports memorabilia.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during visiting hours on Saturday, September 21st from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham, MA, with a celebration of life service immediately following.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Pat Roche Hospice Home.
