Robert Carran

Robert (Bob) Walter Carran, Born 1/20/1954, Died 5/27/2024.

Bob was the youngest of the four children of Walter and Barbara (Ebert) Carran. Bob graduated Hingham High School in 1972 and attended UMass Amherst and Mass College of Art. Robert died from complications related to diabetes which he struggled with for many years.

He lived in Hingham for most of his 70 years, moving to Duxbury only recently. He was self-employed most of his life with his company Lasting Impressions, painting home interiors, murals and hanging wallpaper throughout the South Shore. Most of his business came by word of mouth due to the quality of his work.

He was very creative and was a gifted artist and musician. When he was younger he loved getting together with his friends to make music, playing his bass guitar until all hours of the night.

In his later years he turned to his art to satisfy his creative impulses, painting illustrations, portraits and whimsical bird houses. 

He is survived by his brother Edward Carran and his wife Ann in Duxbury, his sister Marjorie Shepardson and her husband Carl, in Marlboro NH, and his sister Susan O'Neill and her husband John in Pacifica, California. He is also survived by his nephew Randy Shepardson, his nieces Christine Shepardson, Rayuka Carran, and Ann Howell.

He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held Sunday June 16, 2024, from 2pm to 4pm at the Ames chapel in the Hingham Cemetery 12 South Street Hingham MA 02043. Burial will take place Monday June 17, 2024, at 10am also at the Hingham Cemetery.
