Richard Hess Obituary

Richard E. Hess, 72, most recently of Sarasota, Florida, and longtime resident of Stoughton, Massachusetts, passed away on May 5, 2022.  Husband of the late Patricia A. (Kellaway) Hess.  Father of Rebecca L. Hess of Bradenton, FL and Rachelle C. and her husband Victor Madrigal of Vero Beach, FL.  Proud grandfather (Papa) of 5-year-old twins Dominic and Quinton Madrigal.  Brother of Helene Hess of NY.  Brother-in-law of Susan L. Creeden of MA and John A. Kellaway of NH.  “Uncle Richie” is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Son of the late Warner and Cecile Hess.

Richard was born in Brooklyn, New York and was a graduate of Boston University.  He built a career in the banking and loan servicing industries.  Richard was an active member of the First Parish Universalist Church in Stoughton, MA for many years, and served on the Board of Trustees and as Treasurer.  He enjoyed all things music – especially singing, dancing, and Elvis Presley.  Richard was a history buff and loved to play board games.  His favorite movies were Home Alone and 1776, and he passionately cheered on the Boston Red Sox.
