Skip Hassler, 68, of Hull, MA, passed from this life peacefully at his home on October 12, 2025, with his children at his side. Born Philip Carl Hassler in West Palm Beach, FL, June 15, 1957, Skip grew up and lived in south-east Florida until coming to live in Hingham MA in 1971. He moved to Hull in 1994. Skip was a licensed Journeyman Electrician since 1987 and had his own company – PCHassler Electric. Most recently he worked for Pat Cannon, Cannon Electric in Hull.
Skip was known and admired by many people for his excellent and meticulous skills as an electrician, and for the impeccable care he took of his home in Hull. Over the past 30 years Skip refurbished, renovated, and maintained his Hull home in a neighborhood where he developed deep roots. He loved living with access to and a ready view of the water. Friends will miss Skip’s down-to-earth common sense, and his wry, deadpan sense of humor, delivered when least expected. He was a sensitive, caring soul and capable of expressing a full range of emotions. Skip leaves behind good friends he loved like family, especially Pat Cannon and Suzanne St. Pierre of Hull, and Sean Fitzgerald of Hingham.
Family members who will hold Skip’s memory as a blessing include his son Myles Hassler of Hull and his children Joey, Aynslee, and Axel; Skip’s son Ben Hassler of Halifax and his wife Rachel; and Skip’s daughter Marley Hassler Rooslet of Plymouth and her husband Ryan and their children Stella, Scarlet, and Jameson. Also holding Skip’s memory as a blessing are his younger sister Debbie Flanagan of Florida and her husband Chaz along with their children Kyle, Riley, and Kelly, and Skip’s elder sister Carroll Ladd of Oklahoma, and her daughters Miriam Lee and Elizabeth Jean and their father Don Shephard of Michigan.
The family is grateful for all those who cared for Skip over this past year including the physicians, nurses, and technicians in Dana Farber Cancer Center, Beth Israel and South Shore Hospitals, Beacon Hospice, and Downing Cottage Funeral Home. And the family especially wants to acknowledge and thank Pat Cannon and Suzanne St. Pierre who showed up unfailingly in a multitude of ways to support and care for Skip and his immediate family on this journey throughout the past year, and Sean Fitzgerald who showed up for Skip as a brother and a friend.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday November 8 from 12-3pm at the Saltwater Club in Hull. Friends and family are welcome.
