Peter B. Coburn was born in Boston Dec. 26, 1944, and lived in the city with his parents Charlotte Heald Coburn and William B. Coburn until moving to Hingham, MA in 1949. He attended Derby Academy and Governor Dummer Academy. He was a graduate of Denison University in Ohio, class of 1967, and then earned a Master’s Degree at Stanford University the following year. He taught American history and Latin American history at Massasoit Community College in Brockton, MA for close to fifty years. Peter travelled extensively around the world, mostly with groups, and many trips were birdwatching tours. He loved dogs and had three Rhodesian Ridgebacks over the years. He was an avid stamp collector, and very much enjoyed sailing in the Hingham Bay area. He leaves a daughter, Leah McGuill, a sister Thais Coburn McCaffrey, two nieces and a nephew, and six grand-nephews and nieces.
