Paula Brown Obituary

Paula L. Brown, (Polly), of Wenham, MA died April 24, 2024, after an illness with cancer. Mrs. Brown was brought up in Hingham, MA.  She graduated from Thayer Academy and received her BA from Vassar College. Mrs. Brown began a career with New England Telephone and held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility over a span of 38 years. She retired as Verizon’s Regional President of Northern New England in 2008.  

Mrs. Brown loved her family and enjoyed family activities of skiing, snow mobile riding and boating. She was an avid gardener and lover of dogs. She is a former Commodore of the Sandy Bay Yacht Club in Rockport, a former Regent of the General Israel Putnam Chapter of the DAR, a member of the Mayflower Descendants of Massachusetts, and a former Trustee of the Essex Heritage Commission.    

Mrs. Brown was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Lamson of Hingham. She is predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Brown, and her sister, Lynn L. Peterson of Hingham. Surviving her is her son, Elliott Brown and her grandson Nathaniel Brown of Wenham, her brother Donald N. Lamson of Chevy Chase, Maryland, her nephews Eric R. Peterson and his wife Karen, and her nephew Scott R. Peterson and his wife Lisa and her 5 great nephews and nieces all of Hingham.

A funeral service will be held Saturday May 4th, 2024 11am at the New North Church 1 Lincoln Street Hingham MA. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers Contributions may be made to Thayer Academy, Braintree, MA or The General Israel Putnam Chapter of the DAR in Danvers.
