Devoted wife, loyal friend, spiritual thinker, student, and practitioner of her deeply loved religion Christian Science, Pamela Smith Partridge unexpectedly passed away on July 6th with her husband, R. Lane Partridge, by her side.
Graced with a loving heart, Pam and Lane created a welcoming home that uplifted the well-being of anyone who entered. Pam was a keen listener who made people feel seen and appreciated. She had a personal and work ethic that required everything she was involved in to be done at the highest standard, based on principle, as she felt blessings of good would follow.
Born October 15, 1964, Pam was the only child of Charles Wade Smith and Barbara Sue Hillier. She grew up in Ohio, and later moved to Massachusetts where she attended Simmons College earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in history with a minor in art history and later earned a master’s certificate in Museum Studies from Tufts University.
Her spiritual life began when she was introduced to Christian Science as a child thru her grandmother and mother, but she made it her own as a young adult, which led to her building a life with her partner and husband, Lane, as well as friendships that became family, and a career which honored the history and future of the Christian Science movement, having served in many capacities for Longyear Museum in Brookline, MA for nearly three decades.
Pam is survived by her beloved husband of 32 years, Lane Partridge, half-brother Matt Smith, his wife Stephanie and their children Lexi and Sydney, stepbrother Robert Black, his wife Tuesday, and their daughter Brooke, stepmother Jan Smith, aunt Beverly and uncle Davis Marksbury, uncle Roy Smith, and a cousin, Bridgett Messer. She is predeceased by her parents.
A private service with family and friends was held in Duxbury, MA on July 11, 2023. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Longyear Foundation, 1125 Boylston Street, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467.
