Oliver S. DeMenna passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family February 8, 2020 at the age of 94.
Born in Brooklyn during the depression, Ollie joined the Navy out of High School after he turned 17 and served in the Pacific theatre ending up in Japan after VJ Day in 1945.
He spent his most of his working days in Manhattan, then Long Island, retiring to Hingham in 2007 to be closer to his grandchildren. Nevertheless, he remained a lifelong Yankees fan.
Oliver is survived by his sons Robert of Mableton, GA and Stephen of Hingham, MA, daughters-in-law Cheryl and Maureen respectively and his Grandchildren Matthew, James and Maryclare and Matthew’s fiancé Natalie. His beloved sister-in-law Alma (ne Brogan) of Long Island and her children Richard, Jimmy and Nancy.
Burial will be at Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery in Queens, N.Y. A Celebration of Life is planned for April.
