COLBURN, Louise (Kemp) Age 87, recently of Hingham, beloved wife of the late Peter Colburn and a longtime resident of Brunswick, ME, and Stoughton, MA, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025.
Raised in Dearborn, MI and Norwood, MA, Louise went on to earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees of education at Bridgewater State College. Louise was a devoted teacher of both traditional and special needs students in Topsham, ME and Stoughton, MA, inspiring young students with her devotion, creativity, enthusiasm and love. She was fiercely devoted to her family, and always active, spending joyful hours walking, quilting, scrapbooking to document the family’s history, making creative cards, traveling with her beloved husband Peter, and meeting and making new friends, treating every new acquaintance as a friend she hadn’t met yet, with respect, openness and acceptance.
She is survived by her sons, Peter Jr (Patricia) and Thomas; four grandchildren, Lindsay (Willie), Kelly, Emma, and Matthew; brother, Hobart Kemp (Viola) and sister, Charlene Kemp; sister-in-law, Frances Kemp, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 2 pm, followed by a Celebration of Louise’s life at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 179 Main St, Hingham, MA.
