Laura M. (Shank) Damstra of Hingham passed away peacefully at the age of 93.
Born in Fitchburg, Ma. to Frank and Celina Shank, graduated from Hingham High School and shortly thereafter married George E. Damstra of Hingham. Laura was an accomplished seamstress, working from home while she raised her family. She created everything from gowns to fashion accessories which sold at Talbots of Hingham. She also enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and calling bingo at the Lincoln School apartments where she resided for nearly 16 years. She was a member of the International Association of Rebekah. She will be remembered for her friendly smile and all the handmade gifts donated to church fairs and given to friends and family.
Laura is survived by her brother Joseph Walter Shank, her six loving daughters: Donna Ingrassia and husband John, Gretchen Amonte and husband Richard, Geojean Curtis and husband John, Lynne Albechara, Laurie Gervasi and husband Joseph, Deborah Anderson and husband Mark, twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Downing Cottage Funeral Home
Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 10 AM to 12:00PM.
Graveside services in her memory will follow at the Fort Hill Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
