Julie A. Richards, 84, died July 14, 2020 at the Cardigan Nursing Home in Scituate after a long illness. Her beloved husband of 44 years, William O. Richards, had passed away at the age of 80 on March 5, 2016 at the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham.
Julie grew up in Dearborn, Michigan where she attended the Greenfield Village Schools founded by Henry Ford. She graduated from Albion College and went on to become a beloved elementary school teacher. Julie was a gifted artist and poet, and she was sweet to the core.
Bill grew up in Cranford, New Jersey and spent time on Martha’s Vineyard for many summers with his family. He was a graduate of Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut, and worked in textiles sales for many years. He had many hobbies and talents, including miniature boat modeling, but his great gift was black and white photography.
Julie and Bill leave behind their daughter, Margaret Richards, Julie’s children from a previous marriage, son Douglas Coombe, daughter Jennifer McNeilly, and their families. They are also survived by Bill’s children from a previous marriage, Susan Drover and Dr. Carolyn Crosby, and their families. Julie is also survived by sisters Carol Klein and Peggy Davis.
Bill and Julie were kind and humble souls, truly perfect for each other. They were utterly devoted to one another and will be dearly missed by family and friends.
