John Matthew Wood Jr (Matt)

John Matthew Wood Jr. (Matt) 63 of Hull MA, passed away on August 21st, 2025.

Raised in Braintree MA by Matt & Carol Wood alongside his four younger brothers, (Mike, Mark, Jeffery & Troy). Matt graduated from Blue Hills Vo Tech in 1980 with a mastery in Carpentry. Matt then spent most of his life as a self-employed carpenter ranging from Boston brownstones to cape mic-mansions & eventually landing in his favorite spot on Jerusalem Rd. Matt always took pride in keeping good friends and good people on his team. He never left a job-site without a new friend. Although most of his days were spent devoted to his craft, Matt of course had his fair share of fun. Matt loved to ride his motorcycle & yearly trips to Laconia for bike week with his friends. Bringing his family to the cape in the summer and of course taking any and all opportunity to enjoy a trip into Boston for a game.

Matt was a devoted husband to Lori (Lynch) Wood for 31 years he leaves behind two daughters and one son (Morgan, Gavin & Clancy) along with one grandson (Cruz).

Visiting hours will be held Thursday August 28th, 2025, from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel 21 Pond St, Hingham, MA 02043.

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday August 29th, 2025, at 10:00am at St Francis of Assisi Church 856 Washington St, Braintree, MA 02184. Burial will follow at Hull Village Cemetery Duck Lane Hull MA 02045. Reception after the burial will be at 1pm at Tosca Restaurant 14 North Street Hingham MA 02043.
