John J Davenport

John J. Davenport Jr., of Hingham, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018 at the age of 82.

Beloved husband of Mary K. (Faria) McBain Davenport. Father of John J. Davenport and his wife Cathy Ann of Kingston, Tammy Malloch and her husband Mike of Raynham, and Step-son Donald “DJ” McBain and his wife Elizabeth of Mystic, CT. Grandfather of Tiffany Allen, Amber Malloch, Tyler Malloch, Jacob McBain, and Joshua McBain. Great grandfather to Carter and Sophia. Brother of Dorothy Hiltz and her Husband Harry of Hingham, Betty Magner of Pembroke, and the late Robert Davenport. John is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents John J. Davenport Sr. and Minerva (Richards) Davenport. 

John was a Hingham resident for over 30 years. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator and a member of the Local # 4 Union before his retirement in 2003. He was a member of the Holbrook Gun Club for many years, an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast, and enjoyed sports, especially the Patriots, Bruins, NASCAR, and Lacrosse. He also enjoyed boating and traveling to Maine and Florida. John loved his animals Shelby, Squirt, and Rome. John was a wonderful man who enjoyed time spent with his family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. 

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 10 a.m.at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond Street Hingham. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, August 14 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Relatives and friends invited.
