Joan P (Sestito) Wigmore

Joan passed at home after a long illness surrounded by her children on March 11, 2025.

Joan is the daughter of Jennie (Gratta) and Joseph Sestito (D) of Hingham.

Joan is survived by her sister Carol Kehoe of Florida, sister-in-law Ethel Ann Trent of Boston.

Joan is the mother of eight children: Timothy M. Wigmore and wife Cheryl, Joan Wigmore, Thomas M. Wigmore of Lawrence, Catherine Wigmore, Terence M. Wigmore of Hingham, Ann Wigmore, Christa A. Wigmore and husband Bob of Hingham, and Jill Wigmore of Hingham.

Joan adored her grandchildren Timothy J. Wigmore of Middleboro, Melissa and Mark Sawasky of Duxbury, Shawn P. Wigmore of Maine, Nicole M. Wigmore of Rockland, and Jake EM O'Neil of Hingham.

Joan was blessed with great grandchildren as well, Lia and Ana Wigmore, Arianna, Andrew Sullivan of Rockland, Cecilia R Byrnes of Rockland, Henry and Theo Sawasky of Duxbury, and Jackson and Lucas Wigmore.

Joan is also survived by nephews Sean Kehoe, Derrick Kehoe of Florida, and Brian J. Kehoe of North Carolina. Also survived by family friend Claire Freeman and many cousins whom she loved so much.

Joan attended Hingham Schools and graduated Hingham High School in 1953. While she was attending school, Joan was a majorette and had great memories of High School.

Joan loved her friends she always looked forward to meeting them in church every Sunday. To get some time to herself, Joan was on a bowling league. She was an avid watcher of Halmark movies, Christmas ones was her favorite. She liked Knitting mostly sweaters for her children. If she found a moment she would read a book.

Joan was a loving, giving, caring, and smart woman. She would not hesitate to help someone in need. Joan will be missed, but every life she touched is a bit better for it.

A funeral mass will take place on Friday March 21st, 2025, at 10:30am at St Paul’s Parish 147 North Street Hingham MA 02043.
