Jacqueline (nee Sargent) Viscarolasaga

Jacqueline “Jackie/Mrs. V.” (nee Sargent) Viscarolasaga, 87, of Kittery, Maine, previously of Hingham, Mass., passed peacefully after a period of declining health on August 28, 2022. A beloved mother, wife, sister, granddmother, and mother in-Law, Jackie was the epitome of class and dignity, and her presence and strength will be greatly missed.

Born in Arlington, Mass., Jackie was valedictorian of Canton High School. After high school, she took a job at Union Federal Savings and Loan in Boston and spent her entire career there, eventually becoming the bank’s Vice President and Treasurer before she retired at age 65. Post-retirement, she still regularly told stories about the wonderful co-workers, customers, and friends she made during her long tenure. 

In fact, it was at Union Federal that she met and began dating one of her favorite customers. After only about six months they knew they had found the one and in August of that same year, 1959, she married Efrain “Frank” Viscarolasaga.

In 1972 she and Frank settled outside Boston in the Crow Point neighborhood of Hingham. Neighbors to the V’s were family, so it was not unusual for the neighborhood to celebrate holidays and birthdays together. For Jackie, Frank, and their son, Efrain, their neighbors were also lifelong friends. Jackie especially treasured the friendships she made while living there. 

Throughout the years, the Viscarolasaga house became “the” place to be. Their parties were legendary, especially on July 4th, where the steamers were abundant and friends old and new were always welcome with open arms. 

Jackie also had a cat, Charlie (named after Charlie Chaplin), that she adored. When Charlie appeared at Jackie’s door one Thanksgiving many years ago, she made her daughter-in-law, Jenny, promise that Charlie would always be taken care of. The family is happy to have someone Jackie loved so much now joining their pack. 

Jackie now joins her husband of 63 years, who preceded her in death in 2015, in eternal rest. She is survived by her son, Efrain, daughter-in-law Jenny (Laden), and grandson Holden of Portsmouth, NH; her brother Claude “Skip” Sargent and his wife, Dee, of South Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and of course, Charlie the cat.

Visiting hours will be held at Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel in Hingham, Mass., on Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the MSPCA-Angell Fund 350 South Huntington Ave, Boston Mass. 02130
