Henry “Buddy” Finneran, age 82 of Rockland, formerly of Hull and Pembroke, died peacefully in his sleep after a short illness on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham. Buddy was born in Boston on March 26, 1942, to Henry and Dorothy (Little) Finneran.
Beloved husband of 62 years to Virginia (Spencer). Ginny and Buddy were childhood friends who surprised their families when they eloped in their late teens. Although legally married, another wedding in the Catholic Church took place at the insistence of their parents. The story of the elopement remains one of the many favorite stories told through the years.
Buddy spent his career at Sunbeam Bread and worked there for over 26 years. After retiring, Buddy and Ginny operated the Atlantic Hill Market in Hull.
Buddy loved his family, the beach and all things sports. He enjoyed telling stories and would repeat his favorite tales, always getting a laugh and a smile.
Buddy leaves behind his siblings, June St Croix of Hingham, Joseph, Finneran of Quincy, Robert Finneran of Hull and Michael (Laraine) Finneran of Hingham. He is also leaving a dear cousin, Bobby Stabins of Hull. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Buddy was predeceased by his sisters, Janet Bennett, Dorothy Smith and brothers, George Finneran and Jackie Finneran.
