Genene "Nina" L (Choukas) Sassone

Genene "Nina" Sassone (Choukas), 67, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, in Boston, Massachusetts, the city where she was born on January 22, 1958. Her passing marks the loss of a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence touched many lives.

Known affectionately as Nina, Genene was a woman of immense strength and boundless love. She faced life's challenges with resilience and grace, always putting her family at the center of her world. Her heart was vast-filled with compassion and unwavering devotion to those she held dear.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Janelle Choukas and Justine; her cherished grandchildren, Alex Choukas, Jovanni Choukas, Jalisa Choukas, Peter Marciano, and Eliana Marciano; and her great-granddaughter, Scarlett Lowry-Choukas. She also leaves behind her sisters Marilyn Morganelli, Charmaine Fabiano, and Marlene Choukas; her brother James Choukas; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will continue to carry her memory forward.

Genene was preceded in death by her mother Marilyn Parent; her father James Choukas; and her sister Yvonne Tortora.

Her family remembers her as someone who took on much with quiet strength and deep love. She was so loved in return-and will be missed beyond measure.

May Genene rest in peace and her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday August 20th, 2025, from 4-7pm at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel 21 Pond Street Hingham MA 02043. A graveside service will take place on Thursday August 21st, 2025, at 11am at Mount Hope Cemetery Pine Street South Weymouth MA 02190.
