Dorothy Ballaron

Dorothy R. (Dotty) Ballaron, 94 of Liverpool, NY passed away October 14, 2020. She was lovingly cared for in her final months at Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA. She attended Immaculata College in Washington D.C. and was married to Raymond (Jimmy) Ballaron who predeceased her. After living in Alexandria, VA and Levittown, PA the family moved to Liverpool, NY in 1965.

Dotty was a devoted Catholic and was always a very active parish member, especially her Liverpool parish of 55 years, Christ the King in Bayberry, Liverpool, NY. She was an Altar Volunteer, a Eucharist Minister, helped to build and manage the parish library and was involved organizing, running and participating in many parish events.

A talented artist from a young age, she was devoted to painting, and was especially prolific in oil and pastel portrait painting. She was an active member of both the Levittown Art Association and Syracuse Associated Artists. She volunteered and helped manage SAA galleries in various locations around Syracuse for many years.

An enthusiastic reader and lover of books, Dotty volunteered for many years at the Liverpool High School library. Dotty was an avid photographer. She also enjoyed gardening, bunko and many other Bayberry community activities.

Dotty and her husband traveled around the country on travel tours and to visit family and she particularly liked Hawaii. After Jimmy’s death, she traveled with friends and family members to Alaska, Italy and Vietnam. She regularly traveled to Boston to visit her extended family for holidays and to go sailing. She recorded her travels in a collection of travel journals.

Dorothy is survived by her five children, Theresa Coleman of Pembroke, MA, John Ballaron of Cortland, NY, Stephen Ballaron of San Mateo, CA, Gregory Ballaron of Chula Vista, CA and Martin Ballaron of Macedon, NY. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was held at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart in Hanover, MA

and at Christ the King Church, Liverpool, NY on October 29th.

Burial will be at Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay, NY next to her husband of 55 years Raymond (Jimmy ) Ballaron.
