Deborah LeBel, died after a three-year battle with breast cancer on April 21, 2023 at the age of 67 in Hingham, MA.
Deb is survived by her husband of 36 years, Stanley Fogleman; her son, Tasshin (Michael) Fogleman and brothers Lawrence (LL) LeBel and Jon LeBel. She is predeceased by her brother, Harry LeBel; her mother, Alice LeBel (Harman); and her father, Everett LeBel.
Deb was born in Manchester, CT on January 31, 1956. She graduated from Earlham College in 1978 with a degree in Liberal Arts.
Deb was a fierce warrior in the fight for equitable public health. She had a profound impact on the local and national healthcare landscape during her 34-year tenure at JSI Research and Training Institute (JSI). Throughout the years she befriended and mentored a significant number of new staff. She cared about the nation’s health and focused her career on helping to address HIV, maternal child health and reproductive rights, housing and food insecurity, aging, and health disparities. Prior to joining JSI, she worked at Planned Parenthood in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, May 27th from 10-11 at First Parish in Cohasset with reception to follow at the Parish House (from 11-12:30)
Visiting hours are on Friday, May 26th from 4pm-7pm at Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel at 21 Pond St in Hingham.
