Cynthia Rodman Obituary

Cynthia Carr Rodman, 87, of Hingham, Massachusetts, died on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2022.  Cynthia was born in Boston to Moses Francis Carr and Helen (White) Carr on August 16, 1934.  She grew up in Duxbury, Dedham and Milton among other locations and graduated from The Winsor School. She married Oliver Hazard Perry Rodman Jr. on December 30, 1954.  Her father passed away the year before and her mother died five years later.  Yet, without their guidance, she adopted and raised four children with her husband “Ollie” during the 1950’s and throughout the turbulent 1960s and 1970s.  It was a difficult task for Cinnie and Ollie to build and guide a family of four.  Yet, as a traditional full time housewife, and with her strong, attentive personality, she did a wonderful and admirable job.

Cinnie was also involved in her community, becoming a member of, and for a time acting as President of, the Hingham Garden Club.  As well, she became involved in the Hingham Historical Society.  She had a love of and exceptional ability to grow and create flower arrangements, a few of which were included in the Museum of Fine Arts Art In Bloom exhibits.  She enjoyed traveling with her family during the early years to many Caribbean Islands, then with Ollie, explored most of Europe, made an excursion to Africa, and to St. Petersburg, Russia.

Cinnie was a beautiful and endearing woman who hosted a large number of parties and family gatherings.  She was very expressive and greeted guests with a smile and a great deal of kindness.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and an enjoyable, unmistakable laugh.

She leaves a daughter Heath of Norwood, son Stephen of Boston and daughter Lydia and her husband Listo Fisher of Brookline.  She also leaves her daughter-in-law Mariellen of West Newbury and grand-daughters Laurel of Rochester, New York and Anna of Boston, as well as many nieces and nephews.  Cinnie is pre-deceased by her husband of 66 years, Oliver Hazard Perry Rodman Jr., her son Matthew and brothers Samuel, Frederick and Moses (Peter).

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 11am at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in Hingham, Massachusetts.  Burial will be private.
