Carol L. Khtikian

Carol Lucier Khtikian of Longmeadow, MA passed away on Friday, April 1st at the age of 76 after a courageous battle with dementia. 

Carol was born on September 11, 1945 in Norfolk, Virginia. She graduated from Worcester State University with a Bachelors in Education and worked for over 30 years as a 3rd Grade Teacher in the Springfield, MA Public School system. Carol’s passion for teaching was an inspiration. She dove into her work and called each of her students her “kids” as she taught them to love poetry, math and reading. She frequently encountered former students who, even as adults, called her their favorite teacher.  

In addition to teaching, Carol was an Auction Director and volunteer at WGBY Public TV in Springfield. Carol was also a talented seamstress who spent hours on her sewing machines creating unique gifts for others. She enjoyed playing Bridge with friends and spending summers on the beaches of Cape Cod. Carol also loved holidays. She made even the smallest of holidays into a celebration. However, Christmas was her favorite: She spent weeks recreating a Christmas wonderland in her home, which was featured on a Christmas tour and became known throughout town as a “holiday must see.” 

Carol’s pride and joy, however, was her family: Her devoted husband of 51 years, Mitchell, and her son David of Hingham, MA, were by her side until the very end. Carol is also survived by her loving brother, Albert Lucier, of Barnstable, MA, and her daughter-in-law Kristan and grandchildren, Camryn, Kate and Connor Khtikian, all of Hingham, MA. 

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Sunrise Senior Living of Cohasset, for their exceptionally kind and compassionate care over the past three years.

Services will be held at St. Paul’s Parish in Hingham, MA on Friday, April 29 at 11:30am, followed by a reception at the Hingham Community Center.
