Anne M. Leahy

LEAHY, Anne M. of Hingham, died Tuesday, March 3, 2020 peacefully at home at the age of 72.  She was the daughter of Mary Edna and Francis W. Dorion (deceased) of South Boston. Anne leaves behind her beloved and devoted husband of 53 years, Edward W. Leahy.

Anne was a loving mother and best friend to her three children, Jennifer Leahy of Cary, NC, Timothy Leahy and his partner Jessica Schrader of Bel Air, MD, and Andrew Leahy and his partner Desha Abe of Weymouth, MA. Adoring grandmother to Madeline, Ethan, Isaac and Alexis. Sister of Maureen Enos and her husband William of Brunswick, ME. She was preceded in death by her dear brothers, Paul Dorion and Francis (Buddy) W. Dorion, Jr. and his wife Claire Betancourt. Sister-in-law to Virginia Leahy, James and Catherine Leahy, Linda and Thomas Caldwell, Judy Lamkins, Paula and Charles Cocce. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.    

Born and raised in South Boston, Anne graduated from Gate of Heaven High School. After graduating, Anne moved to Weymouth and then Hingham where she devoted her life to her family and friends. She treasured working with students in the Resource Room at Hingham High School. She then worked as a librarian at the Patriot Ledger. During this busy time in her life, she attended UMass Boston and graduated summa cum laude in 2000. Her most cherished roles were those of wife, mother and grandmother. Anne enjoyed visiting with her large extended family and friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crafting of all kinds, walking and traveling.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects, Thursday, March 12th from 4 to 7pm at Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St, Hingham. A memorial service will be celebrated Friday, March 13th at 10 am at the Second Parish Church, 685 Main St, Hingham. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Hingham with a reception immediately after.
