Alan F Dow

Alan F. Dow 79 of Hanover, MA (formerly Hull, MA) passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

 Alan was born on February 14,1946 in Hull, MA. He was the son of Lillian Dow. He was one of seven children. He is survived by sister Grace Madden of Marshfield. Preceded in death by sisters Nancy Polito of Cohasset, Leslie Franke of Weymouth, Doris Dow of Hull, and brothers Ted Dow of Rhode Island, and Phil Dow of Hull.

 Alan married Deborah Parsons on February 9, 1986, in Whitman, MA. They have been married for 39 years. He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Daniel Webster. Alan worked for several years as a sheet metal worker then later in life at the South Shore Hospital.

Alan is survived by children Kimberly Dinneen and husband David of Weymouth, Robert MacNeil of Hull, Krista Gannon and husband Ryan of Weymouth, Tanya Ciavola of Abington, Sarah King and husband Christopher of Halifax. Grandchildren Bella Ciavola of Abington, Olivia MacNeil of New Hampshire, Ryan Carita-Daly of Weymouth, and Rylee Carita-Gannon of Weymouth. Alan was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Alan enjoyed fishing, coaching his daughters’ softball teams and he had loved to make people laugh by cracking jokes. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Saturday July 26, 2025, at Downing Cottage Funeral Home in Hingham, MA from 4:00-7:00pm family and friends are welcome to pay their respects.
