On Monday, April 15th, 2019 Steven Mark Tundermann passed away at age 67 in Weymouth, MA, after battling multiple myeloma for the past several years.
Steve was born on November 5th, 1951 in Camden, NJ to Madeline (Peshard) and William Tundermann. He graduated Collingswood High School in 1970, and received his B.S. and Master’s in Civil Engineering from Cornell University in 1974 and 1975. He married Kathy (Krasny) on August 18th, 1974. They were married for eighteen years and they raised two daughters, Rebecca and Sarah. For the past three years, he lived outside of Boston, MA with his loving partner Kathy Rielly.
Post-graduation, Steve took great pride in the engineering and rehab of multiple bridge projects across the nation, including the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Steve always had a passion for singing and music. He performed with choruses for most of his life, including the Cornell University Glee Club, Colorado Symphony Chorus, and the Providence Singers. He considered performing with 83-year-old David Brubeck in 2004 to be one of his proudest moments. Steve also loved the outdoors and enjoyed frequent walks, bike rides, camping trips and boating. He was a good and loving man and an unbeatable father who valued kindness, humor, and his family above all else. He always asked if there was anything for dessert and couldn’t resist a good pun.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, William, and his mother, Madeline. He is survived by his partner, Kathy, his daughters, Rebecca and Sarah, his granddaughter, Samantha, his brothers, Robert, David, and Leonard, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. A small service will be held on June 15th for family and close friends. Donations may be sent to Choral Art Society of the South Shore, in Scituate, MA, which can be found at www.choralartsociety.org.
