Oscar Stelin Beck, of Bulverde, Texas, formerly of Hingham, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 88.
Preceded by his wife of 61 years, Katharine Ellen Blair. Survived by six sisters, one brother, sons; Steven, Mark, Glen and Daniel, 10 grandchildren, 15 and counting, great grandchildren.
Oscar was born November 28, 1928 in Hingham, Ma to parents Oscar P. Beck and Ethel (Henningsen) Beck.
A graduate of Hingham High School, Oscar attained his Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacology from Boston College and Master's Degree in Business Administration from The University of Texas at the Permian Basin. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Navy. A Registered Pharmacist, he established pharmacies in Hingham and Pecos, TX and served in clinics and hospitals throughout central and west Texas. He and his wife created AI Attar Arabians, competing in Arabian Horse events throughout the Southwest.
A member of the Optimist Club and the Chamber' of Commerce, Oscar was involved in giving back to the community. Oscar was a member at Old Colony Masonic Lodge in Hingham for over 50 years. He also belonged to the Scottish Rite Bodies of El Paso, Texas. Oscar was also a member of the The Shriners and worked with the Shriners Hospital. He enjoyed genealogy, travel and hunting.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Fort Hill Cemetery in Hingham at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Masonic Service and Military Honors. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
