Nejdet I. “Nash” Evin, 92, of Hingham, formerly of Acton, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, September 14, 2018.
He is survived by Dolores, his loving wife of 57 years, his son Kerim and his wife Adrienne of Easton, his son Deniz and his wife Tonya, of Charleston, S.C., and his daughter Tara and her husband Kris also from Hingham, and 10 cherished grandchildren: Carter, Colin, Abigail, Allison, Ava, Jack, Leo, Elena, Braden, and Lauren. He also leaves his sister Nedret Ayalp, and nieces, Cemile Engin and Sukran Ayalp, who reside in Kucukyali, Turkey.
Nash was born to Sami and Hayriye Evin in Istanbul, Turkey. He came to the United States on an academic scholarship where he graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Washington University in St. Louis. He became a United States citizen in 1964. Nash spent his career as an electrical engineer working for Dupont Chemical, RCA, Mitre Corporation and GTE.
He was a man of simple pleasures who enjoyed the outdoors, trips to the beach with Dolores and going on long bicycle rides. Nash will be remembered as a gentle, kind and humble man with a quiet but deep compassion for all those around him, especially his family and friends.
A private family service was held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel in Hingham.
