Mary P Blanco

Mary P. McCluskey Blanco 86, of Norwell, MA formerly of West Hartford, CT and Hilton Head, South Carolina passed away on February 23, 2017.  

She was born in Providence, RI on June 22, 1930.  Mary graduated from the Rhode Island School of Nursing in 1951 with a degree in Nursing.  She was a dedicated nurse for over 40 years and retired from New Britain General Hospital in CT.  Mary enjoyed reading, crosswords, knitting, quilting and playing board games with her friends.  She is survived by the love of her life, Jim and together they shared many memories traveling, cruising and especially dancing. Many special events were celebrated with her large extended family on cruises and tropical destinations.


Mary is predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Mary McCluskey, brother Thomas McCluskey, sister Rose Quinn and daughter Mary Wilkes. In addition to her husband Jim, she is survived by her brother Jack McCluskey, sister Nancy McDonald, son Bill McGrane, daughters Jean Ference (Jack), Laurie Buttkus (Peter) and Beth Powers (Bill).  She lovingly leaves her nine grandchildren: Courtney Wilkes Goode, Matthew Wilkes, Caitlin Wilkes Uttley, Caley McGrane Noles, Meagan McGrane Eggler, Molly Buttkus Hunt, Kari Buttkus, Tory Powers and Andrew Powers.  Mary also leaves eleven great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.   

The visitation is from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham, MA and a funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM.
