Margaret Anne (Kroesser) Roberts

Margaret (Peggy) A. Roberts, 79, of Weymouth, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 20, 2017 with her family by her side.

Peggy was the devoted wife of the late Burleigh Roberts.  A loving mother to her seven children: Margaret Coleman and husband Michael, Patty Hickey, Bob Hickey Jr., Steven Hickey and wife Laura, Jim Hickey and wife Leslie, Joe Hickey and wife Carmita, and Sue Danner.  Peggy (“Omi”) is the grandmother to 23 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. Peggy is the sister of John L. Kroesser and wife Caroline, Karen K. Plumley and husband Bruce, Barbara C. Araujo and husband Norman, Robert E. Kroesser and wife Lois, Kenneth D. Kroesser and wife Janice and many nieces and nephews.

Peggy was born in Quincy, MA on March 25, 1937 to Mary Elizabeth Davis Kroesser and John Louis Kroesser. She was raised in Hingham, but lived most of her life in Weymouth. Peggy was an employee of the Weymouth Tennis Club and the Washington St. branch of the South Shore Savings Bank, where she retired from. 

Peggy’s many interests included spending quality time with her large family and many friends, living a healthy lifestyle, a flair for creative writing, boating with her late husband, checking out the latest finds on QVC, enjoying concerts and Hallmark movies, and playing Geronimo.  Peggy’s biggest gift was her kindness, compassion and positivity, always bringing a smile to everyone’s face.  She had a special way of making everyone feel important whether it was a stranger in a store, clients at the bank, beloved friends and, most importantly, her close-knit family.

Peggy lived a beautiful life, lending a hand to those in need, and although her life came to an end, she died as she lived, everyone’s friend.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond Street, Hingham. Friends and family are welcome to gather in celebration of Peggy’s life on her 80th birthday. Following the celebration of Peggy's life, friends and family are invited to gather at The Sons of Italy, 161 King Road, Braintree, MA from 4:30-8:00pm.
