Kenneth G. Tong, of Hull, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2018 at the age of 87.
Loving father of Dean Tong of Tampa, Florida. Grandfather of Christine Crum and Kenneth A. Tong of Jacksonville, Florida. Great grandfather of Ivy Claire Crum of Jacksonville, Florida. Brother of Marjorie Townsend of Scituate and the late Robert Tong. Ken is also survived by his companion Karen Clemente of Hull, close friend and former wife Claire Tong of Hull, and many nieces and nephews.
Ken was born in Quincy, son of the late Myron Tong and Evangeline (St. Ledger) Balcom. He served his country proudly in the U.S Army, 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed time spent fishing with his son Dean and Building Ship Models. He designed and built the Atlantic Aquarium and Nantasket Antique and gift center both in Hull. He had a very distinguished career at GTE Government Systems Corporation and General Dynamics Defense Systems. He also worked at J. Wiley & Sons, Inc. in New York where he wrote the Wiley Series on Human Communication. Ken also had a Masters in Science Journalism, he wrote many articles including many documents and taught at many Universities.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Christ Episcopal Church, 12 Quincy Avenue, Quincy at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours omitted. Interment will be held at Hull Village Cemetery.
