Joan H (Frizzell) Adley

Joan Helen Adley, of Kingston, formerly of West Yarmouth and Hingham, died peacefully on Tuesday November 27, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 78. A true miracle, surviving for 9 and a half years with Glioblastoma Multiforme.

Cherished and loving wife of 57 years to Richard Myles Adley.  Mother to Richard Adley Jr. and his wife Sheila of Cohasset, Kevin Adley and his wife Caroline of Plymouth, Deborah King and her husband Matthew of Weymouth, Patrice McDermott and her husband Vincent of Braintree, and Sharon Landers and her husband Thomas of Halifax. 

“Grammy” was adored by her 11 grandchildren, Meridith King, Kaleigh King, Kevin Adley Jr., Sarah McDermott, Shaelyn King, Thomas Landers, Jessica Adley, Myles McDermott, Dylan Landers, Bridget Adley and Ryan Landers.

Born and raised in Braintree she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (McDuff) Frizzell, sister of Donna Frizzell-Brown, the late William Frizzell, Donald Frizzell and Marianne Peterson.  Sister-in-law to Jean Fay, Judy Kaplan, Patricia Lea, M.Gail Castellano and Frank Adley.

Joan graduated from Braintree High School, and attended Northeastern University.    She remained actively involved in the St Thomas More Color Guard for years. 

Joan especially enjoyed traveling with her closest friends and family to Ireland, Bermuda and North Conway.  Days at Nantasket and Seagull beaches were amongst her favorites as well as watching her grandchildren attend various sporting events, shows and concerts, always with her camera in hand.  Joan cherished all these wonderful and happy times and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. Joan personified the true meaning of beautiful.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday December 4, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St, Hingham.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Paul’s Church, 147 North St, Hingham on Wednesday December 5, 2018 at 10am. Burial at St. Paul’s Cemetery.
