Jean (Macdonald) Doble, of Hingham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 75.

 

Beloved wife of the late Kendall Doble Jr. Loving mother to Cai Wichert and his wife Julie of Hingham, Kimberly Douglas and her husband Frank of Milford, NH, Elizabeth (Wichert) DesJardins and her husband Marc of Santa Cruz, CA and her stepchildren Ken Doble, Nancy Doble, and Jim Doble. Sister of Roy Macdonald Jr. and his wife Cindy of Maryland, Bruce Macdonald and his wife Christine of Florida, and the late Douglas Macdonald. Jean, known as Grandy to many, was incredibly proud and supportive of her grandchildren and step grandchildren Abigail and Cameron Douglas, Linden DesJardins, and Kip, Emily, Katie, Gabriel, and Isaah Doble. Daughter of the late Mildred (Svedlund) Macdonald and Roy Macdonald.

 

A lifelong resident of the south shore, she was born and raised in Cohasset before moving to Hingham where she raised her family and spent the rest of her life.

 

Jean was talented in the Kitchen, a wonderful cook who loved to make meals for others and always appreciated good food. She also enjoyed collecting antiques and gardening. She was an avid sailor who enjoyed sailing the Maine Coast, Massachusetts Bay, and the Caribbean. Jean was a member of the Hingham Yacht Club, the Hingham Historical Society, the Abigail Adams Society, and the Duke of Gloucester Society.

 

A memorial service will be held at Old Ship Church, 90 Main Street, Hingham, on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A private interment will be held at Hingham Cemetery. Charitable donations in Jean’s memory may be made to: Hingham Historical Society, P.O. Box 434, Hingham, MA 02043.
