Gloria A. (Cellini) Broderick of Hull and Bonita Springs, Florida died on December 12, 2018.
Gloria was born in Quincy in 1923 of immigrant parents and was fluent in Italian. She is predeceased by two sisters and a brother. She was married to the late Robert M. Broderick and lived for 40 years in Norwell where she was active in Saint Helen’s church sodality and choir.
She traveled extensively throughout Europe with her husband for many years. She last worked as assistant to the dean at Labore College. Upon becoming a widow, Gloria moved to Florida where she enjoyed volunteering as an English teacher to migrant workers as well as for the Bonita Springs Chamber of Commerce and the Bonita Springs Art Center.
She was a member of Saint Leo’s church and also continued to travel, visiting such places as Norway, Russia and China. She was the beloved mother of Helen L. Broderick of Hull and the late Robert M. Broderick, Jr.; grandmother of Amy and Joseph Broderick and Patrick Mahon; and great grandmother of Richard McCoy. Gloria will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visiting hours are on Tuesday, January 8 from 4-7 pm at Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond Street in Hingham. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 9 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church, 85 Main Street in Hingham followed immediately by interment at Washington Street Cemetery in Norwell.
