I did not know of Fred's passing and feel badly not to have been in attendance. Back in the day we worked together for Hingham Youth Soccer striping fields and coaching kids. He was great to work with and so much fun to run into from time to time. We always enjoyed our time together. Because of his dedication, kids in this town grew into significant athletes both boys and girls. One can easily see that proof in the very highly skilled high school soccer teams that have come along. A great man whom I'll miss.

I am so, so sorry for your loss, Nancy and Cheryl. I knew him first because of his boat. It seems like eons ago that I would see him at the Harbor. Then Rotary. Then the DPW. He was a presence in my life for many years and will be missed. God bless and RIP.

I will always remember Fred when he coached my son Ross and his son Fred on the Bantam hockey team.
No one thought that the team would go anywhere but Fred coached the team all the way to the State finals in Greenfield.
More important than the success of the team was the fact everyone loved playing for Fred as he made the experience so enjoyable that 30 years later Ross and I still talk about what a great time he had playing for Fred.
After every game Fred would have a smile on his face and we would have a few laughs.
Fred was what youth hockey and youth sports was all about.

I know how much Fred loved his family and that he will be missed by so many as he was such a special person.

We know that it is hard to bear right now and we pray that God will grant you the strength needed to get through this moment in your life. Hello Milton High Classmates,

I am forwarding an email from our Milton High Classmate of 1957, the late Fred Alexander.

During the past few years, I caught up with Fred and we went to breakfast couple of times. We were good buddies at Milton High and belonged to a group called "Ace Bailey's Boys" named after a teacher who taught us "general" course guys wood working, metal working, auto mechanics and aeronautics. Fred and I went on to enjoy our respective careers, Fred eventually having his own business.

At the two breakfasts, we reminisced about our times at Milton high, his service in the U.S. Navy and mine in the U.S. Coast Guard. We also enjoyed remembering Christmas where our families enjoyed our Christmas, Scandinavian style. Like me, he enjoyed his power boat which he kept in Hingham.

Enjoy his email. I did and always will.

Rest in peace Fred, my Milton High School classmate.

Subject: merry christmas

Hi John,
Or should I say commander Kolstad. Hope you 2 are having a warm & sunny winter down there. We have cold, dark, rainy & sometimes snow showers up here in the north. I guess you heard that Barry Whelply died on Dec. 5th. It was written up in the Globe. Mary Dacey also sent the news to all of us. We are getting less & less of us every year now. As the saying goes life goes by & then you die. I have to have my defribulator battery replaced in January sometime. It will be the second time for that. The batterys last about 5 years. I also have to have a hole in my retina patched up in my right eye. In & out at South Shore hospital; so hopefully no big deal. Do you come home for Christmas or do you stay down south ? I don't remember if you told me when we were together. Anyway, we are all fine so far up here & looking forward to our traditional Swedish christmas on Christmas eve. Good sill & meatballs & all the cheeses & stuff. Send an e-mail when you get the chance. Merry Christmas & happy new year from Fred A. & Nancy.
