Fred V Alexander

Fred V. Alexander, of Hingham, formerly of Milton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the age of 78.

 Survived by his wife, Nancy Willner Alexander of Hingham, and his three children, Cheryl and her husband Joe Bierwirth of Hingham, Tina and her husband Jon Chambers of Moraga, CA, and Fred and his wife Michelle Alexander of Walpole, MA. Fred was the youngest son of John and Victoria Alexander and predeceased by his two brothers Roy and Jack.  He was a loving grandfather to Joseph, Christopher, William, Davin, Colman, Casey, and Beck.

Fred served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Virginia. Prior to enjoying his retirement he worked in the insulation industry as a union pipe coverer and then an independent business owner.

Fred was a devoted member of the Hingham community and was actively involved in youth soccer and hockey, Rotary, Masons, and the Railroad Club.  He was an avid boater and fisherman.

Visiting hours will be held at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond Street Hingham, on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A funeral mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist, 172 Main Street, Hingham on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.

 In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Fred’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, Dana Farber, the Veterans Administration of MA or the charity of your choice.
