Cynthia McManus, of Hingham, passed away after three years of living with cancer, on January 14, 2019.
She was born May 13, 1957 in Boston, MA to Georgina and Joseph Wilcox. Cindy is survived by her husband, Richard (Hingham, MA); her mother, Georgina (Randolph, MA); her brother, Joseph (Bangor, ME); her four daughters, Sara Ferguson (Chattanooga, TN), Caitlin Curis (Slaterville, RI), Aimee McManus (Ithaca, NY), Becca McManus (Hingham, MA); and her granddaughter, Amelia Curis.
A lover of the arts, Cindy adored singing and acting, and for several years performed as an equity actress in New York City. Later in her life, she served as an advocate for others through her work as a Human Resource director for a number of nonprofit agencies. Cindy was dedicated to her home and her children, and found numerous work opportunities that were possible from home. She was a manager of an online support service for a national training company, a columnist for the Hingham Journal, and a customer support professional for Apple Computer. Cindy had a compassionate heart for animals, and especially loved her dogs, Bozo and Toby, who were her constant companions.
Treatment made it possible to see her daughters graduate from college and her granddaughter born. She will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Cindy’s name to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. A family-only remembrance will be held later in the year.
