Attorney Joseph W. MacDonald

Atty. Joseph W. MacDonald of Weymouth (formerly of Cohasset), age 87, passed away peacefully at home on November 4, 2018. Joe was born in Boston, MA, son of the late Florence Le Grice and Albert MacDonald. Beloved husband of Agnes M. (Molloy) for 58 years. Devoted father to six children: Brenda Blair and her husband Larry of Hull, David MacDonald and his wife Cindy of Portsmouth, RI, Madlyn Pettie and her husband Alan of Cohasset, Sarah Murphy and her husband Ryan of Andover and the late Michael and Jessica MacDonald. Joe is also survived by his grandchildren: Ashley, Emily, Sean, Aiden, Brady, Dalton, William, Maximus and two great grandchildren: Isabel and Cory.

He was predeceased by his siblings Margaret Stashio, Francis and Albert MacDonald.

Joe graduated from the High School of Commerce in 1950 where he was captain of the track team and excelled at running the fastest mile. From there he attended Boston College on a full track scholarship graduating in 1957.  Once Joe graduated college, he then went on to New England School of Law and subsequently practiced law in Dorchester and Cohasset.  Joe served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid sports fan and often could be found on the sidelines of his children’s sporting events or attending BC football games on the weekends with his family and friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday November 8th at St. Anthony's Church, Cohasset. Interment Woodside Cemetery, Cohasset.
