Robert J Magner

Robert J. Magner, of Hingham, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the age of 86.

Beloved husband of Janet (Ford) Magner. Loving father to Robert Magner and his wife Tikoo of Shrewsbury, Janet Daigle and her husband Thomas of Louisiana, Kathy Packard of Hingham, John Magner and his wife Michelle of Hingham, Michael Magner and his wife Anna of New Bedford, Brian Magner and his fiancé Erica of Boston, and the late Rachel Magner. Grandfather of 16 loving grandchildren. Brother of Doris Ahern of Destin, Florida. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Magner was born and raised in Hingham and was a graduate of Boston College, class of 1952. He was a chemistry teacher at Hingham High School for many years where he also coached the Hingham High School baseball team.

He was also commercial clam digger for many years and an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Bob was a wonderful man who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visiting hours will be held at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond Street Hingham, on Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A funeral mass will be held at Saint Paul’s Church, 147 North Street Hingham, at 11:00 a.m. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Interment will be held in Saint Paul’s Cemetery.
