Guy A. Stadig, of Hingham, died on Sunday, May 28, 2017, at the age of 95, joining his beloved wife of 73 years, Pauline A. Stadig.

Guy is survived by his daughters, Debbie Cappucci, and her husband, Al, of Sagamore Beach; Susan Carchedi, and her husband, Bob, of Upton; Joyce Hanratty of Hingham; and his son, Guy Stadig, and his wife, Susan, of Simi Valley, CA.  He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren, his sister Charlene Indge of Westborough; and Cynthia Audick of California as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Clifford, Burton, and Wilburt, and sister, Lorraine. Up until recently, Guy was still calling every member of the family to wish them Happy Birthday on his harmonica.

Guy was born in Berlin, NH and spent much of his childhood in Canada where he perfected the most delicious Canadian ployes for his family to enjoy on special occasions. His love of the ocean brought him to Hingham for the past 71 years where he spent summers fishing and boating with family.  Guy was a pattern and model maker.  He worked at Quincy Shipyard, Stone and Webster, and as a Master Carpenter at Hingham Lumber. Some of his work included pieces for rare dollhouse collections, the altar at Glastonbury Monastery, and special projects for loved ones. Guy loved his dogs, Bibee, Mitzee, and Lexi, his friends, his family, and his country.  A naval veteran of WWII he was chosen Hingham’s Veteran of the Year in 2015, so his passing on Memorial Day Weekend did not come as a surprise.  The support from the veterans in Hingham as well as the Hingham dog officer has been heartwarming.  The family wishes to thank them for all they have done and all they have been to Guy.
