George F Dolan Sr.

George F. Dolan Sr., of Plymouth, formerly of Hingham, passed away on June 12, 2017 at the age of 85.

Beloved companion of 19 years to Gretchen MacKenzie of Plymouth. Loving father to Dianne Brennan and her husband Kevin of Weymouth, George F. Dolan Jr. and his wife Theresa of Hingham, and John Dolan and his wife Lori of Taunton. Cherished grandfather to 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Mr. Dolan is also survived by his sister in law Jean Dolan of Wolfeboro, NH as well as many nieces and nephews. Husband of the late Joanne Dolan.

Mr. Dolan proudly served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. He was a Patrolman for the Hingham Police Department for 36 years prior to his retirement. George was a Past Commander of the United States Power Squadron where he was an active member and teacher.

He was a lifetime member of the Weymouth Elks. He enjoyed golf, fishing, boating, camping, hunting, and spending time with his family. George was a wonderful man who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visiting hours will be at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond Street, Hingham, on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 4 to 8p.m. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A funeral service will be held the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel on Friday, June 16 at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at Saint Paul Cemetery in Hingham.
